Ahhh if only life were that simple. And in the most basic forms, some of those things work but they don’t account for many variables in life such as time, barriers to exercise, ability, mental health, physical health, childcare, support, health conditions, medication, accessibility, access to a varied diet, motivation, environment, knowledge, AUTONOMY

You will also find that they often leave out some of the finer details such as the years it has taken to build their physique or fitness, genetics, the hours upon hours of training, the sacrifices, neglecting relationships and friendships, the supplements, the overly restrictive diets, and often, the disordered behaviours

.

It’s patronising to so casually simplify health behaviours. Change is not always easy. Change doesn’t happen overnight. Change can be hard to sustain. It is NOT easy for the majority of us and to suggest it is erases and disregards many people’s lived experience. It also leads people to believe THEY are individually at fault if they cannot maintain changes and health is never an individual issue
